The Napa Valley is renowned for its wines, but we have a very diverse educational culture beyond the vineyards. Our unique museums house centuries of history and art.
Here are our must-see museums for your next visit to the Valley.
Robert Louis Stevenson Silverado Museum at 1490 Library Lane, St Helena
Perhaps you’ve never heard of him, but Robert Louis Stevenson wrote some of the classic children’s stories that we revere today — including Treasure Island and Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson spent some of his later years in St. Helena, and wrote about his time in Napa in The Silverado Squatters. Napa Valley bibliophiles Charlotte Strouse and Norman H. Strouse founded the “Silverado Museum” in his honor in 1969 to showcase the writer’s life and works.
Napa Valley Museum at 55 Presidents Circle, Yountville
We love having the opportunity to inspire the next generation with our exhibits! This young visitor stares inquisitively at a photograph of Paul Child and his twin brother Charlie. Child admission to Museum is $5 and free the second Saturday of the month!
